Four Year Strong Announce 2027 Tour Celebrating 25 Years as a Band and 20 Years of ‘Rise or Die Trying’

Few records defined the late-2000s convergence of pop-punk melody and hardcore heft quite like Rise or Die Trying. When Worcester, Massachusetts heavyweights Four Year Strong dropped the album in September 2007, it delivered a hyper-caffeinated jolt that helped define an entire micro-generation of heavy melodic rock. Two decades later, the quartet isn’t simply looking back with passive nostalgia; they are planning a massive nationwide celebration. Marking both their 25th anniversary as a band and the 20th anniversary of their seminal sophomore LP, Four Year Strong will hit the road for an extensive North American tour throughout spring 2027. Even better, they are bringing along a powerhouse undercard featuring Drug Church, Heart Attack Man, and rising upstarts Sunbloc.

The extensive run is slated to begin on March 20, 2027, at Electric City in Buffalo, New York, crisscrossing through major markets across the United States before wrapping up with a triumphant hometown finale at Boston’s Citizens House of Blues on April 30. Across the trek, fans will be treated to full nightly performances of Rise or Die Trying from front to back, alongside a curated spread of catalog rarities and career-spanning deep cuts.

Dual Milestones: A Quarter-Century of Four Year Strong

Formed in 2001 while still high school students in Worcester, vocalists and guitarists Dan O’Connor and Alan Day, bassist Joe Weiss, and drummer Jake Massucco built Four Year Strong from basement shows and regional VFW halls into an internationally recognized pillar of modern alternative music. Reaching the quarter-century mark as an intact four-piece is a rare triumph in a genre infamous for lineup rotations and burnout. Through changing industry trends, acoustic reimaginings, and sonic reinventions—culminating most recently in their critically acclaimed, riff-heavy album analysis paralysis—Four Year Strong has remained singular in their relentless energy and blue-collar work ethic.

Reflecting on reaching two simultaneous career benchmarks, the band emphasized just how formative this chapter remains. As reported by ThePRP, the band shared their excitement in an official statement:

“2027 is a big year for us. Not only have we had 25 years as a band, playing incredible shows and tours, doing things we never dreamed we would do, but also 20 years ago we released Rise or Die Trying, the record that started everything for us. It gave us the foundation for everything that came after. So, in celebration of two huge milestones in the FYS story, we are beyond stoked to announce we will be hitting the road next year to spend it with you all! We will be playing Rise or Die Trying in full, as well as songs that span the last 25 years, featuring lots of deep cuts and rare setlist appearances! We are incredibly pumped to be doing it with Drug Church, Heart Attack Man, and Sunbloc. This is going to be something special, and we can’t wait to spend it with all of you!”

The Enduring Legacy of ‘Rise or Die Trying’

When Rise or Die Trying arrived via I Surrender Records in September 2007, it fundamentally shifted the underground rock landscape. In an era dominated by polished neon pop and emo-tinged post-hardcore, Four Year Strong injected aggressive, synchronized palm-muted breakdowns, double-kick rhythms, and driving synth accents beneath soaring, instantly memorable pop hooks. Anchored by the seamless dual lead vocals of Dan O’Connor and Alan Day, the record pioneered what fans and commentators affectionately dubbed “easycore”—a stylistic bridge unifying the pit culture of hardcore with the singalong accessibility of melodic punk.

Anthems like “Heroes Get Remembered, Legends Never Die,” “Bada Bing! Wit’ a Pipe!,” and “Beatdown in the Key of Happy” became subcultural touchstones. The lyrics mixed tongue-in-cheek cinematic humor with themes of loyalty, resilience, and personal determination that resonated deeply with young audiences packing sweaty club circuits and the Vans Warped Tour. Hearing the tracklist executed front-to-back two decades later offers fans a rare opportunity to experience the ferocious stamina and hook-laden songwriting that put the New England outfit on the global map.

A Heavy-Hitting Supporting Roster: Drug Church, Heart Attack Man, and Sunbloc

Rather than treating the anniversary tour as an insular retro package, Four Year Strong assembled one of the sharpest and most dynamic supporting bills seen in recent years. Joining them as direct support is Albany post-hardcore unit Drug Church. Fronted by the commanding and sardonic Patrick Kindlon, Drug Church has spent the past decade crafting a devastating blend of grunge groove, abrasive hardcore aggression, and razor-sharp lyricism. Their live shows are notorious for unrelenting crowd surges, making them an explosive complement to the headliners.

Adding another layer of infectious urgency is Cleveland’s Heart Attack Man. Spearheaded by Eric Egan, the band has earned a rabid underground following by marrying punchy pop-punk sensibilities with biting sarcasm, grit, and emotional vulnerability. Rounding out the bill is Sunbloc, a rising hardcore outfit whose raw sonic intensity will set a blistering tone each evening.
